Pork exports in August totaled 222,243 mt. Pork value fell 12% to $606.3 million. The decrease is because Mexico’s domestic pork production has rebounded, lessening the need for exports. This is coupled with less demand for ham in recent months.

Dyed diesel waivers continue to spread among states

Illinois, Georgia and Tennessee have joined the list of states loosening penalties for the use of dyed diesel in on-road vehicles amid concerns about high diesel prices during harvest season. Bouton said Congress should use the ideas from the various proposals to create a framework that protects consumers and grants farmers a dependable market. The larger hemp industry thinks the lame-duck session should be used to pass bridge regulations so the 120th Congress will have the time to pass more comprehensive regulations. Farmers growing fiber, grain and seed deserve rules suited to their crops, alongside enforceable standards for cannabinoid products,” Bouton said.
